After watching my mom die of this since the 6th grade, getting mammograms have been a yearly priority since her death in ’88; it was a mammogram that caught it early and has probably saved my life. I opted for a double mastectomy instead of a lumpectomy or mastectomy. The doctor said it was the most prudent decision I could have made. Early detection and education are your best defenses.
