Focus on the step in front of you, not the whole staircase

Cancer is so overwhelming at times.

I found myself constantly reminding myself to take it one day at a time. That this is a small portion of my life in the grand scheme of things. This is just a chapter.

Be careful with your thoughts. Words are powerful. Prior to cancer I would use the phrase “I’m dying” casually to exaggerate when I had a cold. Once I was diagnosed with cancer I was careful to not use that phrase anymore.

I focused on the positives. I embraced and enjoyed the good moments. I became more present in my life.

You can find beautiful moments in this journey. You can find your strength. You can learn so much about yourself and those around you.

Take it all in, but do so one day at a time.
