2nd Time Around

When I was 61 I was diagnosed with breast cancer in my left breast. I was healthy and only got a mammogram because my friend had and I thought I should get one too. Well, her mammogram was clear and I had a lump. It was a complete surprise to me. I had a lumpectomy, chemo and radiation. Life went on I retired the next year and thought i was done with breast cancer.

This last Feb. I realized I had a large lump in my other breast. I’ve just had surgery and waiting for pathology report to see what stage it was and if it in the two lymph nodes removed. The surgeon had me have a pet scan and cancer wasn’t found in distant places.

So here I am on my second fight with breast cancer at 79 and I see all the advances in technology to fight it that came about since my round in 2004.
