Celebrating the Legacy of Know Your Girls

What started as a movement to help Black women “know their girls” has grown into a revolution for health equity.

In 2018, Susan G. Komen® partnered with the Ad Council to launch Know Your Girls — a powerful campaign created to help Black women take charge of their breast health. Through real stories, relatable language and trusted community voices, Know Your Girls sparked conversations about early detection, self-advocacy and the importance of breast care.

The campaign helped break down stigma and empower women to get to know their breasts — and themselves — better. It also opened the door for a deeper conversation about the barriers Black women face in accessing quality breast care.

Today, that work continues through Stand for H.E.R. – a Health Equity Revolution, Komen’s bold initiative to ensure that every Black woman receives the care and support she deserves — from education and screening to diagnosis, treatment and survivorship.

Because when we stand for each other, we all rise.
