Komen College Ambassador Program

Your campus. Your voice. Our mission.

What if you could help save lives right from your campus? By working with us, you can have the support you need to be an advocate for making breast health a part of conversations. Susan G. Komen® is looking for passionate college students to join the Komen College Ambassador Program, a peer-led movement bringing breast health education straight to campuses across the country.

You don’t need a health background. You just need to care about your community and be ready to show up.

Breast Cancer Is on The Rise for Younger Women.

A lot of people think breast cancer is something to worry about later in life. But breast cancer is actually the most common cancer in women ages 20–39 — and it’s on the rise for younger women. Diagnoses among women under 50 are increasing at nearly twice the rate of those 50 and older.

Black women face even steeper odds: They’re more likely to develop breast cancer before age 40, more likely to be diagnosed with aggressive forms and have lower survival rates than their peers. And nearly half of young women don’t know their own family health history, which means they may not realize they’re at risk.

That’s a gap we can close — together, on campus.

“There was so much I didn’t know. I’m excited to share what I’ve learned on my campus.”

What You’re Signing Up For

The Komen College Ambassador Program is a peer-led initiative that gives you the knowledge, resources and support to bring breast health conversations to your campus.

By using the tools and resources we provide in spaces on campus where they make sense, you’re not just raising awareness. As an Ambassador, you’re building skills, growing your network and becoming part of a movement that actually makes a difference in people’s lives. You, as students showing up today are the advocates, volunteers and leaders of the next generation.

What We’re Asking You to Do

It’s a real commitment — but a manageable one. Here’s what being a Komen College Ambassador looks like:

Complete Training

Take a self-paced online training course (about two hours) that gives you everything you need to educate your peers — from breast health basics to family history, risk factors and early detection.

Host a Pop-Up Event

Work with Komen to plan and host a breast health pop-up event on your campus. We’ll support you with resources and materials — you bring the energy and the crowd

Spread the Word

Share breast health information with your fellow students throughout the year — online, in person and wherever your community gathers.

Sound Like You?

We’re looking for college students who:

  • Care about health equity, wellness and the people around them
  • Want to develop leadership skills and be an agent of change
  • Are comfortable starting conversations — even the ones that feel a little vulnerable
  • Are part of a student org, sorority or campus health group; want to advocate for communities disproportionately affected by breast cancer, including Black women and other underserved groups

No health background needed. Just passion and a willingness to support our mission.

The Life of a Campus Ambassador

We’re not just here to ask for help, here’s what you get…

What are the Perks?

A Stipend

Because your time and leadership are worth something.

Event Funding

Money to cover your pop-up, including giveaways and materials, so you’re not coming out of pocket.

Komen Ambassador Gear

Merch to represent the movement on your campus.

Mentorship & Connection

Direct support from Susan G. Komen staff and access to a national network of health equity advocates.

Real Leadership Experience

A meaningful credential for your résumé and a community of people doing impactful work.

A Pathway into the Mission

Opportunities to get further involved with Komen — from advocacy to fundraising to internships — if you want to keep going.

Ready? Let’s Go.

The need is real. If you’ve been looking for a way to lead with purpose and make your time on campus count for something bigger, this is it.

“Speaking with a survivor after going through training develops empathy, which makes training so much more impactful.”

One Conversation Can Change Everything: Why Yaleska Became a Komen College Ambassador

After experiencing her own breast cancer scare, Northwestern University student Yaleska knew she wanted to help others feel informed, empowered and unafraid to talk about breast health. As a Susan G. Komen College Ambassador, she’s starting conversations on campus that could help save lives — one student at a time. This Women’s Health Month, she shares what inspired her to get involved and why those conversations matter.
