Is that a lump?

I was in the shower when I felt a mass on my right breast. Having a history of breast cancer I decided to error on the side of caution and have it checked out. My primary care physician thought it deserved a further look so she put in a referral for an ultrasound and mammogram. The biopsy followed and then the diagnosis. I have stage 2 IDC. Why does this keep happening to my family. I decided enough was enough and I wanted answers. I had genetic testing done and found out I had the same BRCA1 gene mutation that my cousin had who is also a breast cancer survivor. Why did I have the testing done after I was diagnosed? I have a mother, aunt and cousins. If my diagnosis can help them get the proper screenings that can potentially save their life then it was worth it. My advice to women is do your self exams. If you have a family history of the disease in your family get genetic testing done. Be proactive with your health care and keep fighting for a cure.
