About this Site

True to our progressive vision for the future, Komen was an early adopter of using the web to further its mission. Komen has been online since 1997, and has upgraded its website on a regular basis over the last 10 years. Each new version of komen.org not only adds new content, including the breast cancer and breast health encyclopedia co-developed with The Harvard Center for Cancer Prevention, but interactive tools and audio-video resources such as Anatomy of Breast Cancer and our online Breast Self-Exam (BSE), available in both English and Spanish.

We offer many ways to connect – with Komen and with each other – through our Message Boards and our Helpline. For those who want to become involved in our work, there are now sections devoted to our Affiliates and to our Public Policy and advocacy intiatives. And, we continue to thank our corporate partners for their invaluable support by featuring their programs online.

Komen.org is also the gateway to many of our specialized web services, such as our grant application and review tools and the Affiliate Corner, our Affiliate extranet.

In November 2005, komen.org was awarded two honors at the Sixth Annual eHealthcare Leadership Awards. Within the Consumer Diseased-Focused Site Category, komen.org received a Platinum Award for Best Overall Internet Site and a Gold for Best Health/Healthcare Content. komen.org was also designated a 2005 WebAward winner in the “Outstanding Achievement in Web Site Development” category by the Web Marketing Association.

In 2007, to showcase our new brand, as well as to commemorate our 25th anniversary, we proudly presented the new komen.org.
