My sister called me to say she needed a lumpectomy! Breast Cancer! 3 months later, I learned that I had Stage 0 DCIS (IN SITU) breast cancer. I got genetic testing and after learning that I was positive for the BRCA 2 gene, I elected to have a double mastectomy at CTCA in Newnan GA. I had a hard time wrapping myself around the fact that with Stage 0, I was having a double mastectomy. My plan was to have reconstruction surgery when I healed but due to complications, I wear custom breast prosthetics. My sister had radiation and chemo, lost her hair, but is doing well and her latest mammogram was benign. I AM A SURVIVOR!!!
