Addressing the Need
Establishing Food Security for Breast Cancer Patients & Their Families
Undergoing treatment for breast cancer and metastatic disease is taxing physically, emotionally and financially. More than half of all Susan G. Komen® Helpline callers have barriers related to economic needs, including food insecurity. Komen patient navigators work closely with breast cancer patients and see firsthand the struggle of making ends meet and being without necessary resources.

Thanks to partners like Giant Eagle, a 2021 CARE Pillar partner, we’re able to help breast cancer patients in our community. As a longtime partner of Komen, grocer Giant Eagle is dedicated to giving back to the communities they serve, recently extending their work to align with Komen’s CARE Pillar. Through these new efforts, Giant Eagle is improving patient access to fresh, nutritious food while increasing the reach of Komen’s Treatment Assistance Program. Together, we are ensuring ALL families have access to the care and resources they need.
No matter where breast cancer patients are in their care journey, there are ways you can help, too. Did you know that $100 could provide groceries for a breast cancer patient for a week?
Visit Komen.org to learn more about fundraising events happening in your area, and donate today to help fund Susan G. Komen’s Treatment Assistance Program. Your every effort makes a direct impact in your own community for breast cancer survivors and those living with metastatic breast cancer!
