A Guide to Breast Cancer by Susan G. Komen

Clinical Trials

Transcript

Over the past 40 years, treatment of metastatic breast cancer has greatly improved due to information learned through clinical trials. Clinical trials test the safety and benefits of new treatments as well as new combinations (or new doses) of standard treatments.

People with metastatic breast cancer are encouraged to join a clinical trial. You can find out more about clinical trials and how to enroll in them in the section on “Clinical Trials,” in this tool and in the “About Breast Cancer” section of komen.org.

Susan G. Komen has partnered with other organizations to provide Metastatic Trial Search, the first-ever clinical trial search engine designed specifically for people with metastatic breast cancer. You can find it in the Metastatic Breast Cancer section of the Susan G. Komen website.

Finally, if you or a loved one needs more information or resources about clinical trials, call the Komen Breast Care Helpline at 1-877 GO KOMEN (1-877- 465- 6636) to speak to a trained and caring staff member Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. ET, or you can email them at clinicaltrialinfo@komen.org.
