Women’s Health Month: The ShareForCures® Alliance and Living Beyond Breast Cancer (LBBC)

Where Community and Personalized Resources Meet

During Women’s Health Month, conversations about breast cancer often focus on screenings, treatment and survival rates. But life with and beyond breast cancer is about more than medical appointments. It is also about mental health, community and feeling seen through every stage of the experience. That’s where Living Beyond Breast Cancer, also known as LBBC, comes together with Susan G. Komen to meet people where they are,  connecting those affected by breast cancer with trusted information, emotional support and practical resources.

The ShareForCures Alliance

Breast cancer research is evolving every day, driven by the power of real-world data and the individuals who choose to share theirs. Komen’s ShareForCures( is a research registry where those who have or had breast cancer can submit their health data to scientists working to find cures faster.

But breakthroughs are only possible when research reflects the full spectrum of those affected by breast cancer. That’s where the ShareForCures Alliance comes in — a collaboration of organizations that ensures more voices are heard, more data is represented and more individuals can learn about the power of ShareForCures.

LBBC and How It’s All Connected

From newly diagnosed patients to those living with metastatic breast cancer (MBC) and long-term survivors, LBBC offers support tailored to different experiences. Their programs include peer support communities, educational events, webinars, helplines and free resources that help people navigate the emotional and physical realities of breast cancer. Mental health support can be especially important during and after treatment. LBBC works to foster communities where people can talk honestly about mental health, side effects and survivorship with people who truly understand.

That sense of connection is also part of why the ShareForCures Alliance matters so much and can help advance discoveries faster.

Coming Together

The ShareForCures Alliance brings together nonprofit organizations that share a common goal: accelerating progress in breast cancer research by amplifying the voices and experiences of people diagnosed with breast cancer. As a member of the ShareForCures Alliance, LBBC helps encourage participation in ShareForCures, a patient-driven breast cancer research registry designed to gather more diverse and representative health data directly from people affected by breast cancer. Researchers can use this information to better understand differences in diagnosis, treatment, outcomes and lived experiences across communities.

Research is not only about data points and clinical outcomes. It is also about understanding the full impact of breast cancer on a person’s life, including emotional well-being, quality of life and long-term survivorship needs. When more people share their experiences through initiatives like ShareForCures, researchers gain a more complete picture of what it truly means to live with and beyond breast cancer. That knowledge can help shape future care, improve support services and drive more equitable outcomes for everyone impacted.

A Shared Commitment

This Women’s Health Month, organizations like LBBC remind us that supporting women’s health means supporting the whole person and that this work is strengthened when organizations support one another. It means creating spaces for honest conversations about mental health, survivorship and the realities that continue long after treatment ends. And through the ShareForCures Alliance, those lived experiences can do even more. They can help power the future of breast cancer research.
