National Breast Cancer Awareness Month: Breast Honesty Begins with Us
Breast cancer isn’t stopping, but neither are we. We’re on a mission to create a world where no one dies from breast cancer. Breast cancer isn’t just continuing; it’s showing up in younger women who were told they had nothing to worry about. It’s showing up in communities where people can’t access the high-quality care and support they need. Too often, because of all of this, it’s showing up as a more aggressive disease and at later stages.
A new generation is facing a reality that breast cancer can happen to them and, because of this, they are developing a desire to know their risk. Komen has a responsibility to meet this moment with urgency.
At Komen, we believe ending deaths from breast cancer requires all of us. It requires research that leads to new breakthroughs. It requires access to high-quality care. It requires education and advocacy that changes systems. And it requires us to be honest about where we are, who is being left behind and what it will take to change what comes next.
That’s Breast Honesty. It’s the cultural ground we stand on. It means talking about breast cancer as it really is, without minimizing the challenges or losing sight of what is possible. It’s how we speak, how we show up and how we turn urgency into action.
Launching during National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, our new campaign, Don’t Fail the Girls, is doing exactly that. Komen’s Patient Care Center
The Breast Bank helps support the work of Komen’s Patient Care Center, where people facing breast cancer come for trusted information and personalized support at every step.
Komen Patient Care Center navigators help people understand their diagnosis, access resources, overcome barriers to care and navigate the health care system. That can mean helping someone connect with local resources, preparing someone for their next appointment, answering questions about breast cancer or simply helping them understand the next step in their experience.
In FY26 alone, the Patient Care Center supported 21,000 people total through their Helpline, Patient Navigation and Financial Assistance program, with $5.4 million given in financial assistance using donated funds. For someone facing breast cancer and their family, that support can make sure nothing stands in the way of getting the care patients need.

What is The Breast Bank?
The Breast Bank transforms giving into something more tangible: a communal act of care. Every donation made to The Breast Bank will be used to bolster Komen’s Patient Care Center.
